Computer snag stalls early voting

ALBUQUERQUE A computer malfunction caused major problems today at early voting sites across the state. In some cases, already long waits got much longer for voters.
At one early voting site at Coors and Sequoia NW early this afternoon voters said they were frustrated..
KRQE News 13 has learned the computer system used to verify voter registrations at early voting sites across the state went down this afternoon.
The Secretary of State's office said it has been fixed by the out-of-state vendor responsible for the computer system,.
In Bernalillo County, some voters left before they could vote because they could not afford the long wait, other chose to stick it out.
"It took an hour and 15 minutes," voter Dave Wirenius said “It was quite long. It was longer than it should be."
Poll workers in Bernalillo County said the computer system never went down completely, it was just really slow.
They said they system is behaving normally now.
The Secretary of State's office said the election-computer contractor notified state election officials about the problem, which was fixed before 3 p.m.
