Essex County Elections Commissioner Lew Sanders said big problems with the new scanning voter machines for the disabled may translate into problems for all voters come next election.

The scanning machines are similar technologically to what New York state plans to switch all voters too come next election.
Sanders said he's not confident the new technology can withstand the pressures of a large election.
"They'll never stand up to those old machines. If they (new voting machines) last five years it'll be a miracle," said Sanders.
Sanders said the machines for disabled voters still haven't been certified.
The federal government but the certification process on hold.
The 25 new machines cost almost $300,000.
