Ward 3 Alderman Mike Skinner, who’s running for re-election, tells me he’s filed a complaint with the county Election Commission about a voting machine malfunction in the county Administrative Complex. (I am still verifying with election staff about the complaint and what happened exactly and will this blog when I learn more.)
Skinner tells me that one of his supporters tried to vote for him today. However, the voting machine displayed another candidate’s name. The supporter called an election worker over and notified him of the problem.
The “misvote” was removed from the machine, Skinner said. That said, they filed a complaint about the whole thing and are going to be carefully watching returns when they come in Oct. 27.
Skinner is facing three other challengers in the election. Early voting began today Oct. 7 and continues, including Saturday, through Oct. 22. Election day is Tuesday, Oct. 27.
So, are there other problems with other machines?
