Johnson County Election Issues
(Johnson County) - Johnson County voters may not be using their touch-screen voting machines in the November 2nd election, because the company that makes those machines didn't meet Friday's deadline.
Johnson County Election Board members had given Election Systems and Software, known as E.S. & S., an ultimatum: certify the software for the Ivotronic touch-screen machines by August 20, or supply the county with paper ballots and optical-scan machines like the ones used by Marion County.
E.S. & S. agreed to those terms, and the county was set to make the change. But now E.S. & S. is saying it'll get the certification by the middle of September.
County clerk Jill Jackson isn't sure what to do, change to optical-scan machines now, or wait 3 more weeks?
The election board's next meeting is August 26.
