New state elections director appointed

SANTA FE The new director of the bureau of elections is Ernest Marquez.
Marquez was named director today by Secretary of State Rebecca Vigil-Giron.
Marquez lives in Rio Rancho.
He replaces Denise Lamb, who left to become the head of Santa Fe County's elections operation.
Marquez served as state director of elections in 1997 and 1998 under then Secretary of State Stephanie Gonzales.
Marquez has worked for six years for Automated Election Services, a company in Rio Rancho that provides elections-related products including voting machines, ballots and software. He is a former elections director in the McKinley County clerk's office.
