County voting machines to print receipts
Friday, July 15, 2005
Roughly 600 electronic voting machines purchased by Hudson County last year will have to be retrofitted to supply voters with paper receipts to comply with a new state law, county officials said.
But there's time.
The legislation, signed last week by Acting Gov. Richard Codey, takes effect in 2008.
And that's more than enough time for Sequoia Voting Systems of Oakland, Calif. - the maker of the machines - to add the receipt-producing capability, said County Clerk Javier Incl?n.
"They've assured us the retrofit isn't a problem," Incl?n said.
Electronic voting machines were first used in Hudson during last year's school board elections
