Washington Co. Election's Office
An election problem in the panhandle is solved. Washington County supervisor of elections, Carol Griffin, received a letter of apology from a Nebraska software company.
On election night, Griffin was criticized for delays on reporting results.
Griffin and her staff experienced errors when trying to read results from the touch screen voting machines.
A representative from ES&S corporation says an investigation revealed a database error on the company's end.
The company has been very supportive of us... the company is under a different name of a company that we first started working with in 1997. Business records by this company... and this is the first real problem that we've had," said Griffin.
With the computer error on election night, staff personnel hand counted each vote.
The entire process was completed by 2 o'clock the following morning.
