Greenfield mayoral candidate asks for recount By Bill McCleery A Greenfield mayoral candidate who lost by nine votes in Tuesday's primary is seeking a recount. Richard J. Pasco, a longtime Greenfield City Council member, said he made his decision after learning that no vote for mayor was recorded on 29 of the 2,300-plus ballots cast in Greenfield. Pasco garnered 1,148 votes in his loss to businessman Brad DeReamer, who had 1,157. Voting machines sometimes fail to record votes when circles are not filled in correctly, Pasco said. Votes can be counted, however, if examiners can decipher voters' intent, he said. "My committee overwhelmingly wanted (a recount)," Pasco said. "It was the right thing to do." Pasco filed his request for a recount today in Hancock Circuit Court. Four years ago, DeReamer lost to Mayor Rodney Fleming, a Democrat, in the general election.
