Voters Hit the Polls
Some Machines Causing Problems
ABC News
PHILADELPHIA - May 15, 2007 - Voters in Philadelphia are encountering problems at several polling places according to the Committee of Seventy.
Officials report several polling places have had trouble locking the voting machines so Independent and Minority party voters only vote on ballot questions. Only registered Democrats may vote for Democratic candidates and only registered Republicans may vote for Republican candidates. All registered voters may vote on the ballot questions.
There have also been more than 20 complaints about voting machines not working properly. They have been in wards 60, 46, 4, 24, 8, 47, 22 and 30. If that happens, Committee of Seventy members at the polling places are advising people to use provisional paper ballots and are notifying the city about the malfunctions. The number to report machine malfunctions is 215-686-7800.
